It's not something you are forced to do, but I think it'll help towards unlocking stuff.

The good news is that there are more to unlock as your progress through the game. Later on I just lost patience and did them as fast as I could. I find myself changing the color and shapes so that I don't get bored. Writing freeform tags are kinda boring to do since you have write ten of them and it's repetetive. This isn't that bad cause there are many places to do so, but it's strange, it should be more free. Sometimes, characters' voices and some sound effects are too low to be heard. I either hear the one or two same songs during gameplay or just no music at all. You get to unlock songs, but they seem to be only accessable in the menu, which is pointless. Graphics are similar to Shenmue for Dreamcast, except for higher res textures. And even then, they don't support much, just 4:3 aspect ratio. No graphics options other than resolution. The book is repetetive and makes the game sound so complicated that I almost didn't want to play it. At least the book makes it seem that way. You might even get dizzy at some of the spins it does. They make sure you never get a steady picture. And for large tags, you use your keyboard to manuever his hand for spraying, something that the mouse would have been better equiped to do. When you are ready, you hold mouse button 2 or 1 to spray. Hold mouse button 3 and then you can choose from your tags and colors by using the number keys. The mouse buttons are used to spray paint, but it's a combination of buttons *ANNOYING*. You use the mouse during gameplay to change the camera, but the camera isn't free so the camera is constantly colliding with points it can't go past and it's annoying. So not made for PC! The mouse is barely use it, even in the menus. These are my first impressions from playing the first few stages.
